Aluminum workpiece surface polishing method

Author:小编 Time:2023-05-24 Hits:

The following types of defects may exist on the surface of Aluminum workpieces:

Burrs: Generated during machining, stamping, etc. and appear as tiny bumps.

Hanging teeth: produced in the process of sandblasting, Polishing, etc., manifested as discontinuous lines or point-like pits.

Hairy grains: Generated during milling, cutting, and other machining processes and appear as large bumps.

Air bubbles: produced during the production of the material and appear as round or irregularly shaped pits, opposite to the color of the material.

Pinhole: It is produced in the case of uneven aluminum alloy composition, foreign materials and deposits in the pipeline, etc. It is manifested as a tiny crater.

Crack: Generated during the molding or processing process, manifested as linear or arc-shaped cracks.

Strain, scratch: produced during transportation, installation, use, etc., manifesting as linear or punctiform pits or scratches.

The above are some common defects on the surface of aluminum alloy workpieces. These defects will affect the appearance, dimensions and mechanical properties of aluminum alloy workpieces, etc. It is necessary to pay attention to the prevention and repair of defects during the production and processing.

Surface polishing of aluminum parts is an important step to improve their appearance quality, and several common methods are listed below:

Mechanical polishing: Using polishing machines, Grinders and other mechanical equipment, grinding heads of different materials, sizes and shapes and grinding powders are used to grind and polish the surface of aluminum alloy. This method is applicable to the case of batch processing, which can improve the efficiency and surface quality.

Chemical polishing: By etching off the aluminum alloy surface to a certain depth in a specific chemical environment, burrs and oxidation layers are removed and a bright surface is formed. This method is effective in removing burrs and oxidation layers from aluminum alloy surfaces, but requires operation in a strict chemical environment and produces contaminants.

Electrolytic polishing: Using the principle of electrolysis, the aluminum alloy surface is polished in an electrolytic solution. This method enables fast and uniform polishing of aluminum alloy surfaces, but requires operation in a specific electrolyte and requires current control and temperature control.

Hand polishing: Using tools such as sandpaper and polishing cloth, the surface of aluminum alloy is manually ground and polished. This method is suitable for small batch or single part processing, but the efficiency is low.

It should be noted that when choosing the polishing method, the appropriate polishing method should be selected according to the aluminum alloy material and the required surface quality, combined with the processing volume and production cost, and other considerations. Attention should also be paid to the protection of the environment and personal safety.
